Who doesnât love lounging in the sun with a good book? If youâre after an entertaining book to take away on holiday with you, then these are the books for you.
#1 Tender Is the Night by F. Scott Fitzgerald
Although often overlooked for The Great Gatsby, Fitzgerald actually considered this to be his greatest work. Taking place in the mid-1930s, the story follows Dick Diver, a young psychologist, and his wife (and patient), Nicole, as they entertain their wealthy friends at their rented villa in Southern France. Due to alcohol, half-hearted wedding vows, and unstable minds, everything begins to fall apart as the novel progresses.
While the book deals with serious subjects, the gleaming image of Roaring Thirties luxury at its zenith and descriptions of the sun-soaked French coastline make this an essential holiday read.

#2 The Iceberg Hermit by Arthur Roth
Based on a historical event from 1757, this book represents the ultimate adventure novel: one man, alone, struggling to survive in a dangerous and inhospitable environment. Shipwrecked 17-year-old sailor Allan Gordon demonstrates all of the characteristics necessary to survive his Arctic nightmare - luck, perseverance, adaptability, and hope. This is a gem of a novel that is short, sweet and does an excellent job of outlining the triumphs and tribulations of one man -- who eventually makes it out of his isolation through a combination of willpower and sheer ingenuity.
