Gotham by Edwin G. Burrows (6/7)

This is a book for the lover of American history as well as New York.  The city’s fate has always been bound up inevitably with the fate of the country, and its development mirrors the nation’s.  I can’t think of a better way to discover that the things we love and hate about our society have been with us as long as we have been a nation.
