I’m quite glad that my son was also able to play this game although it’s the more updated one. Even before, this particular Donkey Kong title has had a reputation for being a little unforgiving taking from the original challenge without the training wheels as you go on a platforming adventure around DK’s icy tropical paradise. It’s a really fun game plus a real barrel breaking haven, giving nostalgic memories from it’s very first versions.

One of the best Nintendo Wii U games has to be The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD. This is an upgrade to the classic GameCube Wind Waker experience, but due to the timelessness of the original, there wasn’t need for much change. The game takes you on an epic adventure where you cross the open sea exploring islands and attempting to trackdown Link’s kidnapped sister. While this is a pretty large departure from most Zelda games, long-time players of the franchise will still find the elements they have loved from the franchise in the past.

The features are kid-friendly, with competing teams shooting colorful ink at each other based on different game modes, such as SplatZone, Tower Control, and Turf War. Some of its characters were also included in Super Smash Bros and Maria Kart 8 Deluxe rosters.

A fantastic game, very similar style to the first one in my opinion. It continues with Platinum’s classic action style of gameplay, with a great battle theme. Like the first game it is not the longest game in the world (about 7-9 hours) but for a game of this quality I don’t think this is a bad thing. Definitely worth the money, especially considering it is one of the cheaper Wii U games.

There are a lot of similarities between Pokken and the king of fighters, but it’s really just scratching the surface. It’s a great fighting game that fails to find its footing in regards to being a substantial side dish. The basics are all there: there are rounds, you’re paired up with an opponent and your goal is to whittle down their health from 100% to 0%. You do this by attacking them until they have at least 15 points. As you progress round after round, doing combos becomes increasingly difficult as their damage increases slowly based on how much you’ve been attacking them.

Perhaps one of the best-looking games of its time, Xenoblade Chronicles X is an absolute treat for anyone with a Wii U. It’s a massive open-world JRPG style game with an immersive story that unravels in the most artistic way. The content is pretty much endless and you’ll never run out of places to explore. Given its sheer vastness, this is a game that requires effort and patience but one that rewards you with epic gameplay in return.

Who doesn’t like a Zombie game? As an avid Wii fan, this game has been one of my instant stress relievers. Imagining what you will do should a zombie virus hit your city is one of the most mind-blowing games that will boggle you and keep you entertained at the same time. While it is a bit brutal and nasty, there’s no way this game will bore you, given the backstory that truly is engaging, and the shambling corpse that you’ll probably blow or get you to restart the game over again. This is definitely the scariest yet most fun Wii U game you can play either with family members or friends.
