True Detective – Max Allan Collins (5/12)

This novel by Max Allen Collins tells the tale of Nathan Heller, a young police officer tasked with helping to clean up crime in Chicago ahead of the World’s Fair in 1932. Heller becomes entangled in a fight for power between Chicago’s mayor and the mob, and he soon must somehow stop an assassination from taking place in Miami Beach. Ever the thriller, this book is a reasonably-priced must-read.
