A rather strange and quirky animal, the pebble toad is obviously known for its tough exterior and deep black colour. Only found high in the highlands of Venezuela, atop flat topped mountains known as ‘islands in the clouds’, the pebble toad is the very definition of evolution. Hunted by predators such as tarantulas, the pebble toad has gained the ability to safely throw itself down the mountains without inflicting harm on itself.
