Truckers Have an Easy Job
Many people believe that trucking is easy. After all, truckers just sit and drive all day, right? In reality, trucking is far from easy. In addition to driving, truckers help load and unload their cargo and need to focus on the road for many hours. There are plenty of important laws that truckers must learn and follow, which means they have to remember more rules and regulations than other drivers. Clearly, trucking is not as easy as it may seem!
Truckers Cause a Lot of Accidents
Another common misconception about truck drivers is that truckers cause a lot of accidents. While accidents with semi-trucks do occur occasionally, the other driver is typically the one at fault. Truck drivers need to pass a series of tests before receiving their Commercial Driver’s License to ensure that they are skilled and safe drivers.
Truckers Never Sleep
Of course, everyone needs to sleep at some point—especially truckers. With all the long trips, it’s easy for truckers to become tired. Fatigue can be dangerous for truckers, so they are required to pull over if they become tired. When truckers become tired during their trip, they will pull over on the side of the road or at a rest stop, take a nap in their semi truck bed, and then finish their journey.
Truckers Do Not Meet People
While truckers do spend a lot of time in the driver’s seat, they are always meeting people during their trips. They meet people at rest stops, at their destinations, other truckers at their location, and much more. So, the misconception that truckers do not meet people is false, and truckers get to interact with and meet new people every day.
