Gentlemen, we’ve seen your outfits—they need work. Luckily, you can boost your style starting with our men’s summer style guide for 2020. If you want to take your outfits to the next level, we’d suggest you continue reading.
Clean up your tops with lightweight fabrics
Nothing screams a great summer outfit like lightweight shirts. Every guy needs at least a couple of linen and chambray button-down shirts because they’re versatile and easy to dress up or down. For those more casual days, you can’t go wrong with a plain white or black t-shirt. And, if you’re looking for a top that’s not too casual but not too formal, go for a short-sleeved Henley.
You need chinos, both pants and shorts
Chinos are the most versatile pair of pants out there. Between their smooth, breathable fabric and classic look, you can’t go wrong. Stylish guys will open their wardrobe and have a few different colors of chinos available. Some of our favorite colors are light gray, olive green, and light tan. All these pants are ideal for outfits year-round. Yes, even in summer. Of course, summer can get really hot and humid, and sometimes you need to cool off. You can get chino shorts in the same awesome colors we mentioned before. There’s no excuse to not have chinos, so go get some.
Don’t be the guy who wears sandals everywhere
There’s a time and a place for sandals, like on the beach or when you’re changing in the gym, but they’re not something you should wear all the time. Instead, there are two pairs of shoes that you should have in your arsenal. The first shoe is something you can wear year-round and that’s a low-top plain white sneaker. These sneakers go with absolutely anything, they’re timeless, and they give a clean, sophisticated look to your outfit. You should also have a pair of boat shoes for those laid-back summer days when you’re going to lounge around.
Accessorize wisely
You know that old belt you have that has extra holes punched in to make it fit? It has to go. Newsflash, gentlemen—you can get something called a ratchet belt. You should choose a ratchet belt for many reasons, but one reason is that it gets rid of belt holes and gives you a cleaned-up look. Additionally, under no circumstances should you wear tall socks with shorts. Ditch those tall socks––unless you’re wearing pants––and get no-show socks. No stylish outfit is complete without a watch; just make sure you’re matching the watch band with your belt and shoes.
Of course, we could’ve added more into the men’s summer style guide for 2020, like sunglasses, hats, and swimsuits, but we didn’t want to overwhelm you. If you’re new to being a stylish guy, starting with our recommendations will get you on the right track.
