Best Flower Fields in the U.S. to Visit this Spring

Spring has almost sprung and peak blooming season is just around the corner. Make the most of this magical time of year by visiting one of the best flower fields in the U.S.

Carlsbad Flower Fields, California

Every spring, the Carlsbad Flower Fields in Las Angeles, California, bloom with ranunculus flowers. Native to Asia Minor, the Tecolote Giant Ranunculus is a member of the buttercup family. This beautiful flower field covers over 50 acres of land and is typically best viewed between mid-March through mid-April.

Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm, Oregon

From March 23 to April 29, Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm will be opening its stunning flower fields to the public. Spanning over 50 acres of land, the farm grows around 80 varieties of tulips in addition to daffodils and perennials. Typically, the best time to see the flora bloom is during the first few weeks of April. Festival hours are 9am to 6pm from Monday through Thursday and 8am to 7pm from Friday through Sunday.

Skagit Valley Tulip Festival, Washington

The annual Skagit Valley Tulip Festival celebrates the blooming of millions of tulips. Between April 1-30, over 100 varieties of colorful tulips can be viewed across the 350-acre fields. In addition, the event includes art shows, concerts, and fundraisers.

Crested Butte, Colorado

As the wildflower capital of Colorado, Crested Butte is home to one of the best flower fields in the U.S. From July 5-14 the Crested Butte Wildflower Festival celebrates the wide variety of wildflowers that blossom throughout the scenic location. These include sky pilots, mule’s ear sunflowers, columbines, heartleaf arnicas, sneezeweeds, and magenta elephantellas.

Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve, California

The Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve is composed of 1,700 acres of poppies that typically bloom from March to April. The California state flower opens up around mid-morning and closes in the late afternoon, so it is best to visit the field in the beginning of the day. To determine the best time to see them, the website offers park wildflower bloom status updates from February to mid-May.
