Reading is great, let no jock, Rockstar, rapper, or any of your parents tell you otherwise. Aside from letting us get a glimpse into the wisdom and experience of the book’s writer we also get the opportunity to be enormously entertained by the stories within it.
Reading should be a habit of everyone, and it’s better to cultivate it while young. With that in mind, here are the best books a 1 year old would enjoy.

#1 How the Moon Regained Her Shape by Janet Ruth Heller
The story is a legend influenced by Native American folktales that explains why the moon changes shape and helps children deal with bullies. The sun insults the moon, and the moon feels so badly hurt that she shrinks and leaves her orbit. The moon turns to her comet friend in the sky and her many friends on earth to comfort her. Her friends include rabbits and Native Americans.
Then she regains her full shape, happiness, and self-esteem, and she returns to the sky. An educational appendix gives advice about bullying, scientific information about the moon, and ideas for related activities for children. This book will get your whole family interested in the solar system and help family members understand bullying.

Thank you for including my book How the Moon Regained Her Shape in this article. It is based on my own experiences as a bullied child. I wrote this picture book to help other children and their families and schools and teams understand and cope with bullying. I did not know how to handle bullies when I was a young child.
Best wishes!
Sincerely,
Janet Ruth Heller
