Book recommendation by Dr. Janice Presser from @DrJanice: Teaming, Leadership, & the Rest of Life

My son was almost 10 when a good friend bought him the Time Trilogy, of which this is the first book. When he was done, he solemnly said to me, “Mom, you have to read this. It explains everything.” I read the series and then everything else she wrote, even the ones meant for adults. The late Ms.

L’Engle won the Newbery for this book, and she inspired me as a writer as she did so many others. My favorite quote, which directly refers to this book was, “You have to write the book that wants to be written. And if the book will be too difficult for grown-ups, then you write it for children.” If I were tweeting this quote, I would be compelled to add #truth.

This book assists children in realizing that they are important and aims at increasing self-esteem. Low self-esteem in children, seems to be a common issue that has led to violence in schools. The author uses examples of everyday superheroes to illustrate her point.
