What to Wear on Christmas Day

Ho, ho, holidays are here and it is time to start preparing for Christmas day. Assuming your house has been decorated and all the presents are already wrapped up, there is still one important thing on your list – deciding what you should wear. Of course, not all people spend this holiday the same way. Some are unwrapping present in pajamas, others are launching with their family, and there are those who get to attend fabulous parties. Regardless of what your plans are, in the following list you will find great looks that suit every type of Christmas festivity.

Relaxing at home

Maybe your plans are to stay home with family, unwrap the presents, drink hot chocolate (or something with more kick), and watch Home Alone and other Christmas movies for the hundredth time. Whether you will be doing this the whole day or just until lunchtime, you want to be as cozy as possible. Of course, cozy outfits can also be cute and even luxurious. Therefore, opt for fabulous silk PJ sets, and combine them with an elegant robe and a pair of cashmere socks. On the other hand, you can go with a more low-key option that involves wearing the famous ugly Christmas sweater (although these sweaters are actually very cute), a pair of black leggings, and comfy suede slippers.

Lunch with family or friends

There are two types of lunches –a casual one and a smart one. If you need to dress up a little bit, we suggest you put on a midi skirt and a classic black sweater, and pair your outfit with heeled ankle boots. Elegant purple gemstones jewelry never goes out of style, so you can add a little pizzazz to your ensemble with a gem necklace or a pair of shiny earrings. You can also look elegant and stay as comfy as possible with a rib-knit snow-white jumper dress featuring an off-the-shoulder neckline. Pair it with heeled boots and you will look amazing. In case you are having a casual lunch, you can wear a festive blouse with a pair of jeans and comfortable loafers. To make the whole look a little more Christmassy accessorize with a velvet headband or a gold belt.

Christmas party

For some people, Christmas day equals a fantastic holiday party. In case you are organizing or attending such an event, you need to step up your game. Sequin skirts can seem too flashy if you are going to a formal party, but since it is Christmas and there is sparkle everywhere you look, you will fit right in. After all, there isn’t a more perfect time of the year to pull off a sequin skirt and a cozy knit sweater. Of course, you can go the other way around and wear a sequin top next to a wide-leg trouser. In either case, finish things off with stud earrings and a pair of heels and you are good to go.

Elegant dinner party

If you wish to impress everyone with your impeccable sense of style, go with an extravagant velvet dress in a rich jewel tone. To complete the look add a pair of statement earrings for that wow factor and put on a pair of embellished heels. In case you are heading out to dinner and you still haven’t managed to decipher the dress code, arm yourself with a versatile outfit. A black slip dress with lace trims can easily be toned down with a cropped jumper, or worn solo with a gem necklace in case you need to shine.

Keep in mind that on Christmas day you can look stylish and festive without going for the whole Mrs. Claus look. Chic is always better than kitsch, so consider these options and have yourself a very merry Christmas.
