Marko Vovchok a Ukrainian woman writer who wrote under a male pseudonym. A noblewoman by birth, an orphan, a woman with a rather plain face who yet fascinated all men once they talked to her. Famous in France as well. Her stories are mostly about women’s lives in Ukrainian villagers, love, surfdom, loss of children, mother-in-law hatred, loss of husband’s love and more.
