Should You Vape Marijuana Or Smoke It?

Since marijuana is now legal in most places, people are starting to consider partaking in it. For many, it is a good way to relax which is better than drinking alcohol. Others are using it for medicinal purposes and feel a lot of relief from it. There are as many reasons to use it as there are people who have started using it. The question for newbies is how to use it.

There are a lot of different ways to take marijuana from edibles to smoking and now even vaping is an option. Although most people think of vaping flavored juices infused with nicotine such as Elf Bar, there is also the possibility to vape marijuana and get high from it. To help clear things up and give you something to think about, this article will cover the differences between smoking marijuana and vaping it.

What is vaping?

Vaping is done by using an electronic device to vaporize a liquid. Often, the liquid is infused with nicotine as well as many flavors so it tastes good. There are new methods for creating the vapor which is then inhaled and enjoyed when it comes to marijuana. There are concentrates that are in the form of sticky substances called dabs, or even something called shatter which is a hard and crystal-like substance.

In those cases, the device will use an electric current running through them to produce the vapor that is inhaled. The act is very similar to smoking, but nothing is combusted. The material doesn’t actually burn from using a flame and doesn’t create a lot of the compounds that are produced when smoking marijuana or cigarettes.

Vaping is generally favored over smoking since the experience is very smooth and enjoyable. What’s usually missing is the flavor of the marijuana since it is in another form and not an herb.

Vaping is also regarded as being safer than smoking since many of the harmful compounds that are created are not present in the vapor.

Is vaping safer?

There have been no long-term studies that can definitely say that vaping is safer than smoking marijuana or cigarettes. However, there is a lot of anecdotal evidence that suggests that it is much safer. Primarily because of the reason already addressed regarding the lack of many of the harmful compounds that result from the combustion of the dried herb.

Vapor is a lot easier to inhale since it isn’t harsh like smoke is. The thinking is that this is somehow safer as a result.

What definitely should be noted, however, is that CBD or THC oil that you can use orally should never be vaped since the oil droplets will end up causing a lot of damage to the lungs. It can be fatal in some cases. The only substances that should be vaped are ones that are specifically formulated for vaping.

Advantages of vaping

Since many of the substances created from marijuana to be vaped are highly concentrated, you can often get a much more intense sensation when vaping. It is a pure form of THC that also enables a much more natural sensation than what would be felt after smoking.

Another big benefit is that it is very discreet. Very often the vapor smells of the flavoring used for the juice or concentrate. It isn’t smoke so it doesn’t linger. It would be almost impossible to detect that somebody is vaping THC and not just a nicotine-infused juice. This means that you can vape marijuana just about anywhere it is allowed and won’t be discovered.

Then there is the fact that it is a much more enjoyable experience since it is not harsh to inhale vapor as it is to inhale smoke.

Advantages of smoking

Some people still prefer to smoke even though vaping is available to them. Their reasoning is generally that you don’t have to invest anything to get started. All you really need are rolling papers, the marijuana itself, and a match to light it. Vaping marijuana can be quite expensive since the devices are very technical.

There is also no learning curve. Once you figure out how to roll a joint then you can get started right away. Vaping, on the other hand, takes a bit of learning to understand how the particular device of choice works. This can take some time and every device is different so if you switch then you are adding even more time to the process.
