The Fourth Age by Byron Reese (4/22)

The premise of the book is that there have been four ages of innovation since the dawn of man. In this order, they are:

  • Fire
  • Agricultural
  • The wheel
  • And now, AI

We are now entering the fourth age and it will impact mankind as much or similarly as the first three. It’s a pretty big claim, but Reese is also a proponent (it seems to me) that machines will not take over jobs, just create new ones – as was the case in the first three ages. As it relates to the business I am in, I believe AI is empowering and elevating roles, like those held by recruiters for instance, and allowing people to do more impactful work that they enjoy.
