These are in ear headphones which work almost like ear plugs – they form a great seal in my ear, and block out nearly all the ambient sound and background noise. With music playing, I can’t hear anything in the background, making them perfect for flights.
The other reason I like them is because they are the only headphones that have stood the test of time. Nearly every other pair of headphones I’ve ever had have stopped working, usually as the cable around the adaptor gives way over time. The Shure’s have a really solid cable and overall construction, and I have literally abused them for years, shoving them in bags, my pocket etc, and they have never failed me. I never go on a trip without them.
