Gibbon’s Decline and Fall by Sheri Tepper (8/15)

Employs a compelling story of a court case of a woman who was jailed for allegedly killing her baby and the decades-long friendship of a group of women. One of the women is the lawyer who defends the young woman even as a governmental body seeks to make the defendant an example of her in a time when women’s rights are being eroded.

The ideals of consensus, women coming into their own power, and the search for equality among the genders come wrapped in a story that will have you on the edge of your seat and reading late into the night.
