A People’s History of the United States by the late Professor Howard Zinn is essential reading for progressives and Democrats. Prof. Zinn describes U.S. history from the perspective of ordinary people instead of the heroes supposedly initiated reforms in a top-down manner. Instead, according to Prof. Zinn, it was ordinary people who bore the brunt of developing our nation while fighting hard-fought battles to expand the rights of workers, women, and minorities.
