When it comes to keeping your beard in order, there are a few handy tips and tricks that can transform the poorest of beards into something to be proud of. Beard Pomade is not something that a lot of people take advantage of, however, it’s incredibly helpful for smoothing out those annoying, lone hairs that always manage to stand up.

Beard pomade is ideal for holding your stray hairs in place, sort of like hair gel, which is what makes it such a powerful part of any beard owner’s repertoire. There are two main types of Pomade; Water based and Petroleum. Water Based Pomade is pretty much like hair gel for the beard, meaning it gives your hair a strong and long-lasting hold, while Petroleum based pomades are more like wax, giving your beard a much stronger hold.

Both types of pomades have their advantages and disadvantages and it can often be hard to decide. We’ve tested a range of beard products over the years, and now we’ve decided to make a list of the top three pomades.

Best Beard Pomade

Below are the very best beard pomades on the market. If you’re looking for a quality pomade to give your beard that ultimate look, then these are the products for you!

What’s the difference between Pomade and Balm?

There are a lot of different beard products on the market and it can often get confusing when you see different terms being mentioned all of the time. As we mentioned earlier, beard pomade is designed to keep your beard smooth, ensuring you don’t have any annoying rogue hairs standing up.

Beard Balm is slightly different, in the fact that it acts as both a moisturizer and a wax. These balms are usually based on common beard oils like shea butter and jojoba oil which makes them the perfect middle point between beard oil and wax.

Applying Pomade

The process of applying pomade is actually incredibly easy, especially once you get the hang of it. After months of going through the exact procedure myself, I felt it was only fair that I share my tips and tricks with you.

  1. The first thing you need to do is get a thin, pea-sized drop of pomade on your finger. You then need to gently rub it into the palm of your hand, making sure to spread it out evenly.
  2. The next step is to repeatedly stroke your beard in a downwards motion, making sure that you flatten out any rough hairs. When flattening your hairs, you need to make sure you don’t clasp your beard too hard as this can stop the pomade being spread evenly.
  3. After making sure there are no hairs still standing up, you can then go ahead and rub the rest of the product into your beard, shaping the sides as you go.
  4. Now that you have your desired beard shape, all you have to do is sit back, relax, and enjoy your great looking beard.

That’s it. Hopefully, you have enjoyed our article detailing the top three beard pomades, the difference between pomade and balm and my personal advice about how you should apply your pomade. If you’re still unsure about what pomade is or have any other beard related questions, I’d be happy to write another article.
